The Lighthouse (2019) Review

  The Lighthouse Review (2019) by: Matthew Wattles             There is something to be said about grim and dark cinematography that can represent mystery in noir and tragedy in both drama and horror. The Lighthouse which features Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe takes the hue of the glum and dreary to represent madness perpetuating itself into total disaster. Perhaps the continuous highlight of this film is the way the characters and setting are clouded not just by being shipwrecked, but by being represented by convoluted and gray cloudy frame of reference. The bonus here is some of the best acting we have seen from Pattinson and Dafoe in years.             Instances of comic relief are common in a way that suggests the community and relatability of such a maddening endurance which in The Lighthouse is being reflected by Dafoe and his young sea bound military workforc...
