God's Love and Self Love

God’s Love versus Self Love
Consumption,
indulgence, earthly, and bodily pleasures can mimic and imitate why we are
really looking to God. However; even if we dine and drink till the sun goes
down or comes up, we may be missing something that is a genuine aspect of faith
in a higher power. We may be missing protection from God, something that
substances and bodies cannot always do. They can even deceive us and lead us
down a dark path of unhealthiness and despair.
As
a continuous visitor and reader of the Alcoholics Anonymous book, I am reminded
that God plays a valuable justification and role in the strength for health I
get from my daily practices.
2 Thessalonians 3:3 KJV “But the Lord is faithful,
who shall stablish you and keep you from evil”.
New Living Translation “But the Lord is faithful. He
will strengthen you from the evil one.”
This
verse from Thessalonains reminds me why I have not given up on God to this very
day. God gives me strength and protection in ways that nothing else I have
found can. Proverbs states that “when the wicked are in power people groan, but
when they godly are in power they rejoice”. God gives me the strength to be an
ethical person which sets a standard for behavior that can lead as a positive example.
In return for my efforts, he blesses me. King Solomon said “shout out and be
joyous within my faith to the Lord.”
The
peace and good will that comes from Christ like ethics can be challenging, but
it is something has worked for me, and I sincerely hope that you find what
motivates you to be a happier person too. What are your thoughts about self
love, ask yourself and do personal inventory. That is what I was instructed to
do, and it was an inspiring and productive practice for me.
