Thoughts On Sculpture
It has been some time (years) since I have been separated from the formalities of academic curriculum. In the real world there is certainly a wavelength of energy that is estranged from daily routine maintenance and duty. When that energy surmounts itself into a force of thoughtful intellegence it can be congestive. Without a medium or outlet it could potentially be incapacitating.
I have found through my studies and experiences that absurd and meaningless trash and I have a compatibility that I simply cannot explain. So instead I fuse them. As wildly different as each emblem, peice of garbage, or artifact may be. I am in love with giving them life and value once again.
An old abandoned frame, a Volkswagen grill decal, and a plate of steel from an unused condominium fan. These things went well together for years. I find this art form calming, and yet insatiable. Perhaps a photographer can find a beautiful opportunity in capturing the components of one of my sculptures. After all I accept my role, and love to collaborate.
May the chips fall where they may. As our compassionate tendencies seam them together so we can recess in joyous ceremony.
Much love to you and your family.
Happy Holidays.
