R.I.P. David Lynch
I was fully amazed at the triumphant and cool election of David Lynch's school. I very much considered applying and attending.
The first time I heard about Lynch. My Father described Blue Velvet to me. Already my imagination was activated. He was the first film director to touch not only my mind, but my heart. I barely touched Netflix and was skeptical of it entirely because of what I thought it would do to local film industry. (Much less Blockbuster and Hollywood Video.)
Mulholland drive was my first glimpse at sensuality in film outside of Top Gun. For years my favorite quote was "The Whole World is Wild at Heart, and Weird On Top" famously said by Laura Dern.
When I was defeated by my diagnosis Eraserhead was there for me. Scatter brained, factory ridden, intelligent, and absurd.
I tried my First Pabst Blue Ribbon because of Dennis Hopper's monologs. Kyle Machlacan was my favorite detective, and he'd play my favorite keyboardist later on. I truly enjoyed what Mr. Lynch's short films could do to warp my mind. I'll never forget dreaming about the monster outside the dumpster.
R.I.P. Mr. Lynch.
